This annual award recognizes developers, organizations, and agencies for their success in advancing the goals of historic preservation, while at the same time providing affordable housing and/or expanded economic opportunities for low- and moderate-income families and individuals.
“The success of the Milwaukee Soldiers Home project is a clear indicator that with the right mix of strategic partnerships, leadership and funding, we can preserve the past while creating solutions for homelessness in our communities,” said Jeremy Ebersole, Executive Director of the Milwaukee Preservation Alliance. “We are thrilled that this project received the 2021 ACHP/HUD Secretary’s Award for Excellence in Historic Preservation. We look forward to continuing preservation efforts on the Milwaukee Soldiers Home grounds as we work with the VA to bring the same success to the vacant and endangered Soldiers Home Chapel, Theater, and Governor’s Mansion.”
This project was made possible thanks to the leadership and commitment of The Alexander Company, the Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee, Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA), JP Cullen and others.
I’ve been looking into different ways to explore Morocco beyond the usual tourist routes, and I’ve noticed that many tour options feel quite standardized. While browsing Sun Trails luxury tours, I got the impression that the focus is more on creating tailored experiences rather than fixed itineraries. That approach feels more aligned with travelers who want something a bit more personal and less rushed. It made me think about how much the quality of a trip can depend on how flexible and well-planned the experience is.
