Business Journal: Milwaukee Soldiers Home theater, chapel could be restored
The historic theater, chapel and mansion on the Milwaukee Soldiers Home campus could be restored by a private developer to provide new services for veterans under a federal request for proposals issued Friday.
Those buildings all are part of the iconic post-Civil War veterans campus in Milwaukee. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs owns the campus, which is a national historic landmark, but for years struggled to find the resources to preserve and activate the late 1800s buildings.
